REWIND brings back three powerful works by Della Davidson, Doug Varone, and Charlotte Boye-Christensen.
Using poetry and dance, "Night Story" by Della Davidson captures the tension of unrequited love and the fine lines between fantasy and reality. Based on Isabel Allende's "Wicked Girl," KUED's documentary of this dance was awarded an International CINE Golden Eagle Award in 1996.
Doug Varone's "Smashed Landscapes," was created for the company as a comment on the aggressive times in which we live. The imagery is potent, the music resounding, and the movement explosive as society spirals in on itself.
Taking its inspiration from the anatomical drawings of Renaissance physician Andreas Vesalius, "Anatomies" by Charlotte Boye-Christensen recreates these haunting images physically in a three-dimensional space. This work, which premiered in 2006, features a specially commissioned score by Danish composer Jens Hørsving.
Support for Della Davidson's "Night Story" comes from the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation.
