Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company's Move It 2010 Summer Dance Workshops encourage and develop the creative spirit of all the participants. Workshops are available for the aspiring and the experienced dancer, middle and high school age dancers, and dance teachers. All classes are held in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.
Move It began in 1980 to provide students with in-depth experiences in dance and to serve as a working environment for choreography. Each year guest artists are invited to teach and choreograph new works for the Company. Invited guests have included 2002 Cultural Olympiad choreographer Daniel Ezralow, Tandy Beal, Alison Chase, Moses Pendleton, Doug Varone, Jamey Hampton, Pascal Rioult, Creach/ Koester, Larry Keigwin, Andrea Beckham and others.

Explore a range of dance fundamentals and special topics with some of the most innovative, forward-thinking contemporary artists working within the fields of dance and theater. This year's workshop will focus on modern dance technique and improvisation, the choreographic process, dance conditioning, Tap, African, and Capoeira. There will also be performance and choreographic opportunities at the end of the workshop.
Featured faculty includes Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Leah Cox (Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane), Kay Andersen, Tom Welsh, Rosie Banchero, and Jamaika, a nationally renowned Capoeira instructor.
$50 deposit due at registration
Two semester credit hours available.

Can't take the entire 2-Week Workshop? The Technique Class offered in the mornings from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. is available for students to drop in for $10 a class or $40 for the entire week. Punch cards can be purchased the first day of the workshop or in the Ririe-Woodbury office during Workshop hours. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the class if purchasing cards. Teacher's Workshop

This is a workshop designed for teachers who are working in the university, professional, and secondary school settings. Shared experiences in technique, choreography, improvisation and experiential anatomy will provide participants the opportunity for artistic growth and rejuvenation. The mixed group of educators will address trends in the field and issues of dance training and dance making in order to increase and elevate the dialogue about teaching in the field.
$25 deposit due at registration
University and in-service credit available.
Teacher Workshop participants can add on the first week of the Two-Week Dancer's Workshop for only $150.

These two-day workshops, taught by the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company dancers, are designed specifically for high school and middle school students. Classes include: modern dance technique, improvisation, folk forms, ballet, jazz, yoga and repertory. The Young Dancer's Workshop provides an incredible opportunity for students to work closely with Ririe-Woodbury Dancers. The Company will perform dances from their repertoire for the workshop participants.

Enjoy a preview performance of a dance choreographed by renowned New York choreographer and social activist, Bill T. Jones. The uncompromising and unapologetic political and social views of Jones have always laid the foundation for his dances. His commanding work “Duet” is performed to the traditional music of Madagascar and the Ivory Coast. With its extremely stylized and meticulously crafted movement this work is visual art in motion.
After the short performance, KUED’s Ken Verdoia will moderate a discussion panel speaking on topics that Jones covers in his work such as being African American, Homosexual, and HIV Positive in today’s society and the arts community. Speakers include Leah Cox from the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company as well as David Huebner, Lynn Meinor, Stan Penfold, and Emma Lou Thayne. FREE TO THE PUBLIC.
Move-It Student Showcase

Housing
University of Utah - Student Housing at Olympic Village
Single Occupancy: $33.50/night + tax
This is where athletes stayed during the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Rooms include linens and every two rooms share a bathroom. There are laundry facilities, a convenience store and a cafeteria on site.
Within walking distance to light rail system. $3/day or $58.50 for a month pass. 10-15 minute ride to the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.
