Dance is For Everybody! Performance Demonstration

A performance demonstration that illustrates the dynamic world of contemporary dance as an accessible and valuable art form in K-12 schools. This program contributes to the student development and use of the knowledge, skills, and appreciation defined in Standards K-6.D.R.1-2 and Standard K-6.D.CO.1. The program runs for 45 to 50 minutes. During this time, Company dancers break down dance elements and illustrate each concept through movement, making it easily comprehensible for the students. The Education Director’s narration includes Spanish vocabulary, making the performance even more accessible for some students and teachers. In addition, the performance is designed to be very interactive, so that the students and teachers can participate and learn from their lived experience of moving their bodies to discover knowledge. The school receives a Teacher's Guide, Company History/Background Sheet, and Evaluation Form one to two weeks before our school visit. The Teacher’s Guide includes follow-up activities for students to create dances related to the concepts presented.
